My name is Derek Tutt and I have been a fresh water fish hobbyist for 18 years, I say fresh water as I have 2 ponds one with 17 Koi, and another with 5 Orfe, 7 Brown tench, 2 Shubunkins. Both these ponds are filtered by The-Qube filtration system.

During the 18 years I have used five different types of filters, all of which have served their purpose. However none have given me decent water clarity. As I have gotten older I wanted a filter that was not so demanding on me. This has come about with The-Qube; it is easy to clean and has transformed my pond into a stress free environment for my fish and myself. The water clarity can only be described as exceptionable, the Koi appear to float in mid air with no visible particles. The filters are cleaned once a week, most times on a Saturday morning, I have also been away on holiday for 2 weeks at a time, feeding the fish with an auto feeder up to 8 times a day and the filters have completely maintained the nitrogen cycle.

Some of the many benefits these filter units offer is footprint and running costs. All The-Qube’s use low wattage pumps and with Orbs media designed to prevent blocking, consistent water flow can be achieved at a low cost. My old systems were cumbersome and cleaning them was a chore. The-Qube’s take up a fraction of the space and cleaning is no longer a chore. The pond is covered during the winter months and sometime during 2014 the both ponds are going to be covered right over in a purpose built Koi House. The pond is approx. 11,500 litres and heated to 12 degrees centigrade 24/7, Oxygen levels are maintained by 2 Air pumps run 12 hours each per day. The-Qube’s have transformed my Koi keeping experience and I would recommend them to anyone.
