Prior to construction of the new retail facility here at “The Oaks Koi Farm” I heard that there was a new range of filtration equipment about to hit the market. This was of interest to me as it was firstly a possibility to install the latest filtration available at the time, and secondly, an opportunity to be at the forefront of a new product launch.

I travelled to the place of manufacture to see for myself the The-Qube filtration system in action. I made the long journey because I was very sceptical as to its claims and performance. Upon arriving and seeing first hand the remarkable results this unit was achieving I must admit that I was very impressed. I met Tony the founder of the The-Qube to discuss this further and gain an insight into how these units functioned. I left Cardiff completely astounded by it and immediately began thinking of how I could implement these systems into the new design for the shop. The key factors that stood out to me were firstly the size / footprint of the units and the ability to produce such good water which, being a Koi retailer, is extremely important.

Going back to the design I saw that the inclusion of these units would afford me more space within the shop to display the Koi. Also these units would allow me to have bigger ponds and achieve the non-cluttered look I was hoping for. So I decided I would put three different sized units in and they were ordered up. When they arrived I got down to installing them right away and was amazed how simple and quick they are to install, literally plug ‘n’ play. After filling up all the systems it was time for the fish, which were put in three days after, when I was happy everything was running properly. Roughly 20 Koi were placed into each system and they were monitored throughout the maturing process.

It is now February 2014 and the systems have been running fantastically since April 2013 and are all performing as said, producing good water, and let me say with the minimal amount of effort. Cleaning these units is a pleasure as they are again easy and quick to clean; you don’t even get your hands wet. Now onto the looks they get when people visit the shop, they are amazed when they see them and the somewhat futuristic design, also being able to position the units below water level, even though gravity fed, is another big plus.

To summarise I am over the moon with the range of The-Qube’s and we have installed several on customer’s ponds much to their delight, as they say it does exactly what it says on the tin.
